These are great - some lovely blacks in that contrast.
I have to ask - were some of these taken at Mirehouse in the Lakes. I know I've seen that circle of stones and the path looks familiar but I'm probably wrong!
i love the contrast too. unfortunately you are wrong 😁, is not the place that you mention. the circle of stones is pretty common in parts of europe, not 100% sure but think has something to do with celts or druids
Haha - yes it is very similar to the one I was thinking of but I see now. Yes, a lot of properties include small stone circles or coves to reflect the ancient history of the surrounding landscape they sit in. 😊
you must try it in medium format. it's crazy good, and actually cheaper than the 135 version. yeah, clearly less images, but the quality, uhhhhaaa!!! nice shots, by the way ;)
My favourite black and white film in both 35 and 120, both for the way it looks and for the ease of C41 processing. If I developed at home it might be a different story but I’m too impatient.
Really nice photos. I've never used XP-2 and usually default to HP5. I'm grateful for your post and will now plan on trying some XP. (I also have a Minolta x700 and love it).
I never tried an ilford XP-2 either, Perfectlight. I’m stucked with Fomapan because I like it very much. It is good to try something else though. Only for the sake of comparison as you just did. I liked your results very much and the photo with the cow, the one that was taken on a somber day, to me, I liked it. Not so much contrast only a bit of a soft one which is pleasant to the eye.
Lovely photos! It looks like you shot the first few in bright sunlight, yes? I only tried XP-2 once in medium format and don't recall anything extraordinary about it, but it seems it is very close to HP5+. I'd love to see future Minolta and 1.7 combo shots!
Great results. I like what I see.
PS: First, I’ve read “crow” and was scrolling back and forth looking for a crow. Duh…🤣 (I eventually got it)
😁

I think I was the one who mentioned it to you 😀… I’m glad you liked it.
oh, thank you very much!!! wasn't sure who, couldn't remember
Great stuff. I think I've only ever used it (or it's predecessor XP1) once or twice. Maybe it's time I gave it another go..
when you do it, show us the results
Will do, though like a y other photographic endeavour of mine these days, in may take a little while 🥴😏
i’m a photographer, i have plenty patience 😉
lol😅
I just recently was reading about XP-2, myself. I plan to eventually rot a roll through my 124. Thanks for the preview!
show us the results when ready
Absolutely.

certainly has a positive appeal and that is after the first roll

hp5 is my favourite film but i'm always open to try others. now that i've tried, i can say that i like the xp-2
