Regarding digital photography, I am a Canon user. No, it is not because I believe that’s the best but because …
You know what? If you think that I’m going to praise one manufacturer over the other, you’re in the wrong place. Every manufacturer is coming with a product that has “pros” and “cons” and that’s it. I don’t believe one single bit that Canon is better that Nikon or Sony and I’m not going into that nonsense stupid arguments. From this point of view, the best camera is the one that you are used with. Period. No arguments.

I started my journey into digital photography with a Canon camera and I sticked with the brand as it was easier when came to upgrades, didn’t want to go to different mounts, different configuration of buttons, etc.
During my photographic journey, especially at the start, I found myself so many times in a situation where I said “Oh, I wish that I had that camera with me” or “Oh, I wish that I had that lens with me”. But I didn’t have what I wished for. So the only option available was to adapt to what I had with me. If this upset me at the start, soon I realised that I’m wrong blaming myself. First is not practical to carry an arsenal with me all the time. Secondly, by forcing myself to adapt to a situation, I’m actually developing my creativity. There is no point in crying over something that cannot be changed. Adaptation is more important than crying. I mean, if you go to a shop late at night and you won’t find your favourite bread, will you starve or will you buy your second favourite bread?

I realised that is more important to capture the moment than to cry about not having the desired equipment. There is a difference between going to an event (let’s say a rugby match) where one can very easy predict what is going to happen and go prepared and being surprised by an event that happens while one is walking on the street. Personally, while going for a walk, I’m not taking the camera with me anymore (as used to) but in more than 90% of the cases I have the phone with me and if the moment occurs, I have a camera. So the best camera is the one that you have with you at the time. All you have to do is make the most of it.
Many goals in here.
First the last :”I’m not taking the camera with me anymore (as used to…” , means for me enjoying the act of seeing instead of being full time alert to probably catch many shots in the hurry. When you go to take photographs just do it also with joy and full concentration.
“Oh, I wish that I had that camera with me” or “Oh, I wish that I had that lens with me”. Fully agree, use the one you have; if it doesn’t do the work you want just get another one.
A Canon user, why not. We all use to get stuck in one brand or maybe two. A simple reason: brands make user ergonomics, handling, buttons, menus etc uniform among cameras; as got used to one got used to most of brand models.
And those photographs are also a goal each of them
