Great post and strong photos. It is important to talk about this. I've made a series of self portraits when dealing with burn out. Really helped me through that period

I can relate to this. Not everyone is wired the same way. Each person deals with stress differently. I trust psychology only to a point. I trust psychiatry more. I would argue that behind most mental health problems is a chemical missing in the brain. The person was born that way. I shy away from saying it's a chemical defect as opposed to saying different wiring. I am not suggesting it is genetic. Could be developmental. Over time, the chemical preventing anxiety, for example, did not develop in the brain, therefore the person is susceptible to these attacks. Whether this is abnormal or not is not for me to say.sat. It's obvious if the brain gets the missing chemical, the person will feel better.

It is equally true that our society, and corporate in particular, does a poor job of addressing mental health problems. In particular, society as a whole does not invest enough time and money in it. Mental health problems can lead different directions, one of which us homelessness. Loss of a job leads to low self esteem. I can imagine loss of a place to live leading to losing one's mind since our society is based on private property as the be all end all. Organized religion has abandoned its responsibility to care for people. It is the job of churches to address existential issues that arise from mental health problems

Excellent photos which tell a story so well.

I think there are a number of reasons for mental health issues being more prevalent.

One, is that people are more willing to talk about them.

I think another is that as a society we have become too insular. We concentrate on ourselves and cut ourselves off with the online world taking over the physical one. It’s a negative place and one of virtual friends who are usually of no help when in emotional need.

Added to that is a generation who have been fed self-entitlement garbage and we have a problem. Rubbish such as “you can be whatever you want to be” is a fallacy and leads to huge disappointment. It makes people feel like failures rather than letting them find a balance in life.

The problem is only going to get worse, I am sad to say.
