All good!! I can say again how much I liked your colorful shots. 😃

I felt the same about digital being Color until I got me a digital camera that is only capable of shooting monochrome. Sure that’s a luxurious problem, but this camera helps me so much in doing what I want. So now, if I want some colors in my life, I put in a roll of Color film into my analog camera. Still shooting tons of black and white film though.

Nice photos btw!

we all need a bit of colour sometimes but in which way we get it differs from one to the other. have you seen my interview with soren? for the last 25 years he is using one camera, one b&w film. that doesn't mean that he is not appreciating colour, he is getting his fix for colour by watching other people's photos.

I have read it and I found it pretty impressive! If you let lose of all that gear stuff, you really come to the essence of photography. And Søren‘s photography definitely shows that!

I don‘t think they would have worked in b&w. I love them in colour though!

Yes agree too.

I don't think they would have the same impact in b&w although I did wonder about that last shot... with a yellow filter it may work. Even so the colour really makes these stand out.

perfectlight's avatar

yes, for those photos the colour is everything. thank you!

They’re beautiful, bright and happy! I don’t think b/w would do them justice. But again, for a photographer it doesn’t go so much what method will do justice for a photograph but more what the photographer wants to transmit with it. I also agree that some images are stronger in b/w and others in colour but again, the message a photographer wants to give is more important. I always say that colour distracts and b/w concentrates (your gaze). In your serie, should they be in b/w, one would get some tones of greys and blacks and not what the eyes see. And the eyes see in colour, don’t they? 😉

as i said before: each method has benefits. thank you for your kind comment

That's how I like to shoot - digital for colour, film for b+w, though like you, they're not mutually exclusive. The colour really brings these images to life. Superb.

thank you! i like the "exclusive" part

A shock to the eyes! Some of those colour combos make me wonder what they were thinking. Gorgeous photos. What would they look in b&w? Would they create a classic feel?

perfectlight's avatar

i don't think the would have worked in b&w. i'm not commenting on the colour combination as i take the positive side of it: gave me an awesome subject! thank you!

Great colour play in your doors and windows... I use my phone for colour. I know I will never print them, so it is just for my amusement. As such I will have b+w film in my camera and my phone for those photographs that just need colour. And there are many. Great post!

thank you! phone is a good option especially that is with us most of the time

Well, you know I love my digital cameras and I love color so this was a pleasant post to wake up to! The saturation is robust. As Susanne said, it wouldn't have been the same in monochrome, only because it would have carried a different "tune". I like the subject matter and I think it enjoyed singing in color :).... I always say that digital and film are two separate mediums and each has its own benefits. Lately, I have been 50/50, depending on my mood. Thank you for sharing your color images.

and thank you for your support and kind comments

I love the images you've presented. B&W can be fantastic, but powerful color images are amazing also.

Color keeps me snapping even on days when the light is flat. Some of these have big variations in color, but the colors are all close in value so a b/w version would be a plane of middle gray.

Rich colorful series. 👏🏼
