What camera?
What camera?
If you were to ask me this question a few years ago when I started as a photographer, I would have said “The best, only the best”. Ask me this question today and my answer will be “The best for the job”.
Today’s market is full of options: from a full range of DSLR to suit every budget, to a full range of mirrorless and point-and-shoot. What is the point of having the latest DSLR on the market when all you do is take selfies for Instagram?
I do believe there is a camera for every job. If you want to photograph action sport, you will need a camera with a fast shutter speed and a high number of frames per second. So going to photograph action sport with a point-and-shoot is not the best option. Are you into street photography? I believe for this type a good mirrorless camera is the best, a big bulky full frame DSLR will not be a practical choice. If all you do is take photos of your own children just to capture the memories or email the photos to other family members, just get a decent point-and-shoot, which will suit the job perfectly. Do you have to photograph art in a museum for a catalogue? My advice is to get at least a medium format camera.
Before you buy a camera, think of what you want, consider what suits the best and if you still have doubts, just ask. Most of the time you don’t have to spend big to get the results. But the most important thing is to make the most of your camera!
