Nice to know better Li Chen. I like his photography. The two photographs in the interview are great ones. Funny to read that, as myself, he likes the sound of the shutters. This is something that seems so banal but it isn’t. Some camera’s have beautiful shutter sounds. The kind of that attracts you and makes you take pictures. CLICK or TXAK!
What a nice surprise to wake up to this interview with a favorite — I love Li Chen’s publication and this response was a stunner: “In-place people and out-of-place things.”
A great photographer with a great sense of humour! Definitely one of Substack’s best… – even in his “Meh phase” he is producing interesting work. Nice to meet you!
Interesting back story! I have been following Li Chen for a while now and appreciate his gift for spotting the out of place, the unusual, that others pass by. Looking forward to seeing more.
A pleasant read, although it could have been a little longer for my taste. Having followed Li Chen's photography for a while now, there's a lot I'd like to hear him tell more about. But great interview, both!
Nice interview. The series of the fish monger is really compelling. Same, same, same day after day. Is it drudgery or meditative? Looking at those images really makes you wonder.

Good to know a little more about Li Chen - I love their mono work.

I really enjoy Li Chen’s photography so it’s great to learn more about the person behind the images!
I can attest to the lovely nature of the Zeiss glass on Canon bodies.
This was a great interview. I haven’t really explored Li Chen’s work yet but it’s now time for a deep dive.
