Great photos 📸 I really like forest / woodland photos in black and white - adds a lot of mystery

Wonderful! Love the double exposures. Did I mention my Lubitel somehow broke? Your post really makes me miss it. It is a beautiful camera in my eyes. Simple design, good looking, lightweight and makes decent photographs. Can’t wait to see more…

promise i will post more. sorry for your camera 🥲i hope you find somebody that can fix it

Susanne Helmert's avatar

Thank you. I just looked at it. The shutter isn't closing automatically. I probably should just look on eBay for a new one...

to me, the camera is simple, the mechanisms are simple, it will be an easy fix. of course, easy to say than do it but i'm lucky, i have a guy specialised in old film cameras and he is looking after the maintenance of mine. wish you luck and please let us know if you managed to fix it

I need one of those guys... 😂

I just looked on Ebay - The prices are pretty steady for that camera. I bought mine 13 years ago and I would still have to pay the same amount as I paid back then...

Great 'mistakes' these double exposures. Looks like a fun camera to play with.

I like that line of Brian Eno: “Honour thy error as a hidden intention”

I thought there might be condensation effects as you'd had the film in the fridge for so long, but can't see any in these posts.

Great tone through the images.

perfectlight's avatar

no, the film is kept in the original packaging into a seal container in order to preserve the layers of coats that made the film. once is out from the fridge, i'll try to keep it at room temperature for a bit before i loaded into the camera. i have a post about it, let me find it

I kept film in the fridge when I lived in the tropics to prevent degradation of the red dye. But sometimes i'd get it out and use straight away and there would be bubbles on the image where it had warmed too quickly.

perfectlight's avatar

oh, yeah. i get you now. unfortunately that happens when the difference in temperature is to big

Super cool! Mistake or not the double exposures are a really interesting effect.

I love these. Something about the third image—it's haunting in a beautiful way.

Nice images, and a good reminder that fun is part of making art.

It makes me want to use my Lomography Lubitel more (coincidentally, i do have some expired film in the fridge). I tend to call it a "conversation-starting device" more than a camera, because of the many times i was asked what the hell that was, to the point where i almost forget that it's so much fun to use. Thank you for this article.

go on, take it out for a spin and show us the results

The results look pretty good, what's the lens in this model you've got?
