So it's 2026
Happy New Year to all of you!
Is it too late? Neah, it’s never too late for the best wishes! So I wish you all the best for 2026!
Here are a few updates from perfectlight HQ:
I ditched Adobe (Lightroom and Photoshop) and switch to Affinity. My 15 years old computer needed an upgrade and I couldn’t transfer the installed software (old school, I know) onto the new computer. Never used the subscription version, and I won’t pay that amount to start now. Affinity is free and I have to work a bit to get used with it, but so far it’s all good. Oh, for organising and browsing I’m still using Bridge which is also a free stand-alone app.
Regarding Substack, I did a bit of cleaning and I will do more in the coming weeks. Don’t get offended if I unsubscribed, it just shows that my interest has changed. I also deleted a few subscribers that had no interaction over the past year or more with my posts.
Plans for 2026? I have a few.
For one, unless it’s a super offer, I won’t buy any more film - my fridge is full and I rather use what I have.
I would like to continue collaborating with people, it is challenging but also rewarding.
“The Sunday interview” is still open for people who want to take part; it is a section that is not based on invitation, it is open for everybody, just drop me an email. Or, if you want, you can recommend somebody, that is also an option. There are a few interviews lined-up and ready to be published.
For me, 2026 is not going to be bigger and better but is going to be about consistency and continuity. So, Happy New Year!

I love that... consistently continuing! Also, I actually love Affinity! I use it for publishing (I bought version 2 last year) but really glad to hear you're enjoying the new, free version. I haven't used the photo app much. From what I can tell though it's so similar to PS that it's really easy!!
Happy New Year to you, too!
