When I created a new section (my weekly photos) at the beginning of the year, I added everyone into it. I did think about writing that you could unsubscribe to individual sections, but in the end haven't actually sent it out - just linked to it via Notes. More than one newsletter a week from anyone feels like a lot, however much I like them. What do you think?
i already send 2 posts a week: one on tuesday (industrial) and one on thursday (perfectlight) so sending them from two separate pages will makes no difference to me. the only difference will be the way substack is sending me notifications. at the moment i have to open my own posts to see if a reader left a comment or asked a question and i don't like that
I don't exactly understand why you would want to separate them. If I am not interested in reading this part of your newsletter (your titles usually are pretty clear whether it's the industrial edition or not), I can always archive it. Isn't both (your Tuesday and Thursday newsletter) part of your creative journey and your newsletter as a whole? For me, you don't have to split it, but if you do I am in...
in this post i mentioned is because of notifications. going into details: perfectlight is over a year old, industrial is 48weeks. i started industrial as a section. from that moment on, i don't receive notifications about perfectlight. if i want to know if you left a comment on a perfectlight post, i have to open the post myself and search the comments section. and that is something that i don't like. today's comment on "industrial", the one that i am replying to right now, didn't appear in notifications. how am i suppose to know, to interact with people if notifications are not working? before opening the section, i had no such problems. that is the only reason i would delete the section and create a new page
The notification feature of Substack definitely needs work. Often I can't keep track on replies, restacks or, comments on notes. For example I don't get an e-mail notification if someone replies on a Note, while I do have this activated in the settings. Also the way (order) replies/comments are displayed is often weird or at least not logical to me ;). I don't use the Substack App by the way, only the website (even on mobile) - maybe on the app it's different but I refuse to use an app for everything.
I agree that they both feel like parts of your work rather than distinct threads. That said, if it's a technical issue, I understand why you would want to resolve that. Have you tried reaching out to Substack?
I would subscribe because I like "industrial weekly" and I want to keep following along. But I'm (also) fine the way it is. I can always decide for myself if I want to read a newsletter, or if I skip one :) But maybe don't start an "industrial daily", because then it might be a bit much ;-)
no way i would start an industrial daily! i don't have the time for a daily one and i don't think i have the material for a daily one. if i start a new page, it will be weekly, tuesdays, as usual. thanx for your opinion, appreciated!
I saw that one creative i subscribe to added a new section but does not send it out via email like he does his primary. He wanted it to organically grow. Subscribers on the platform see it, but anyone relying on email notifications does not. Not sure if that is an option to consider.
it can be an option all right but how can you see it if i don't send it out? do it like neil scott: post a link to it on notes? can you please tell me more about how that person does it?
The newsletter comes through my app feed. As they all do. The only diff is that it doesn't get sent out in email. If you have followers or subscribers who are outside the app, and only read you through your emails, or if they are off the site, they won't see it. But you can create a link to the new section in your other newsletters and they can fetch it from there. And yes, a Notes posting will of course spread the word. This option simply keeps email notifications limited. Anyone who is active on Substack with see the notices as usual.
I would subscribe for sure as I love both sections. Could you even make it a separate Substack completely? Might be cleaner like that? Not sure how you’d do that though without starting from scratch?
I think that would work. I have two Substacks one on cooking the other on judo and both have found their own audiences naturally. Your audience would have a lot of overlap but also I’d expect you’d find new readers for both stacks

Ah, I hadn't realised it was coming from a separate section. I just saw it as coming from you.

That is weird, because I have sections and I always get the notifications when someone commented or restocked my post (no matter what section...)
not my case unfortunately, i did a screen shot and left it as a comment on notes so you can see
oh, I totally believe you. I just don't understand why it is different...
Interesting! That is definitely something to consider. I am wondering why this is an issue.
I have to keep that in mind for the future.
As I said, whatever you decide to do, I will follow along!
thank you! very kind of you!

the app is not different, notifications are not coming

up to now i have about 5 questions sent to substack (different issues) including the new "chat" online and none of them was answered.
Oh that's disappointing to hear.
I agree with Susanne! I don’t see the need, but I will subscribe if you decide to do it!!

Haha, no problem you're welcome 👍
I will answer with what I learnt from younger generations. " I don't mind, do whatever". And keep "industrial" working because is simply great!
thank you! i will keep it working just maybe as a new page

thank you! will this option help me with the notifications that i don't get? i don't know (doubt it!) but i'll try anyway. thanx! appreciate your help

that's what i mean by a new page: two different substacks. time will tell
