An ode to Muybridge
Canon AE-1 with HP5
Edward Muggeridge is better known as Eadweard Muybridge, the English photographer who did photographic studies of motion and motion-picture projection. If many consider Muybridge as the father of modern cinematography, I consider Muybridge as the first sport photographer. In order to capture motion, Muybridge used a series of cameras.
As I said in previous posts, September is the month when rugby season starts so I will switch to digital in order to capture the action and fulfill my commitments. But before that, I’ve made an experiment: I didn’t try to copy or reproduce Muybridge’s work but since I have a film camera able to shoot at 1/1000sec, I tried to capture some action on film. Also is worth mentioning that I’ve used a 200mm lens so I wouldn’t interfere and an Ilford HP5 Plus film. Here are some of the results. Feel free to leave a comment, also any critique is welcomed.

Fast shutter is a fast shutter? I like the first for the action, and the last, just as a photo overall.
That first shot is especially brilliant
