Every time I visit a new place/city, I try as much as possible to visit a cathedral/church. My visit is not a religious one but an admirative one, I am simply fascinated by the time, effort, design and the details put in to building such monuments.
The saints at the entry area are beautifully captured. Perfect light for Perfectlight! I am always fascinated by the iconography. How you can look at one of these saints and by seeing what they wear, carry, or how they are posed you can tell it is saint x, or saint y. It is remarkable that these stones can come to life this way, showing not only who they represent, but as a whole form this decorative tapestry that marks the entrance to a place of worship. I think not being a great believer, it is perhaps easier to look at these presentations as objects of beauty without the baggage... well done.
Now, go do your three Hail Marys, and do a couple for me, while you are at it! 😃
In this respect, we are very alike. I'm definitely not a "person of faith". My interest, such that it is, in religious buildings is borne from a deep-seated distrust of the motives behind why such belief systems (continue to) exist and the power that they exert over people who, in the remainder of their lives, require scientific / rational evidence.
