History is not my strong suit, never was. Yes, I like to know a bit about the place where I live, about places that I visited or will visit but that’s about it. It doesn’t mean that I don’t appreciate history. People have interest in such subject, same I have in photography, there’s no difference - passion is passion. Last November, I got an email from John expressing his interest in a collaboration. Yeah, up for it! So I proposed the simple form which I used before here: he will send me 5 of his photos and I will try to match them. Nothing unusal until I got the reply with the 5 photos attached: John is interested in history. As a form of respect and to commemorate the people that had an impact on local history, local authorities of Pietermaritzburg in South Africa erected statues.
Statues were never a photographic subject for me, I have no interest in such subject unless they are unsual or somehow ironic. So the challenge was to find statues and try to match John’s. That is what I like about it - not only a collaboration but also a challenge. Here are the results:
Note: Are you interested in a collaboration? Send me an email with the subject “collaboration” to contact.perfectlight@gmail.com
I think you rose to the challenge and did a great job. I assume John's photos are on the left and yours are on the right. My favorite combo is of Gandhi on the left and Jack Benny (back of the head) on the right.
Really well done. Particularly given that statues are not your thing. Really great.
