It is not a secret that I like collaborations, had a few of them here on Substack. I do believe that a collaboration is beneficial for all parties involved and from my point of view it is also a challenge meant to take me out of my own comfort zone. I said it here a few times and I will repeat it: if you are up for a collaboration or an interview, send me an email at contact.perfectlight@gmail.com
The most recent collaboration presented here was the one with Susanne where we swapped a roll of black and white 35mm film after we exposed it but not develop it. The other person will then re-expose the film and only after that the film was developed. The result is a set of double exposed images with a big surprise as person A doesn’t know what person B has been photographing. We were so happy with the results that we decided to do it again but this time with a colour film. Also, we learned from the previous experiment that images are not perfectly aligned so this time we decided to use the same camera (Canon AE-1) and mark the start of the film hoping for a perfect alignment. Well, the alignment was anything but perfect but it was definitely an improvement.
Before I show you the results, I will ask you to stay tuned as Susanne will present her part of collaboration next week. Judging by the teaser that she showed us a few weeks ago, it’s going to be a delight. And a final note: all images taken with Canon AE-1 camera, a 35-70mm Canon FD lens and Kodak Gold 200 film. Enjoy!
Thanks again for this fun experiment!
Apart from how amazingly well the frames lined up, they are two visions merged together beautifully!
